Young thugs attempted to grab teenager’s handbag in a park in Crown Hills, Leicester
A gang of young thugs attempted to steal a young woman’s handbag and then attacked her boyfriend when he tried to protect her.
The 16-year-old victim and her boyfriend were attacked as they walked though Lilly Marriott Garden, off Barnes Heath Road, Crown Hills, Leicester.
A group of four youths approached the couple, asked the girl what she was carrying and then tried to snatch her handbag.
Her boyfriend intervened and was punched and kicked by the gang, suffering two bruised eyes.
The youths ran away empty-handed when a dog walker came over to help.
The attack happened at 4pm on Friday, January 4. Police released details and appealed for witnesses today.
Detective Constable Caroline Wright said: “It could be that you were in the area at the time and remember seeing this.
“Do you recall any more details about the suspects? Did you see them in the area at all that day?
“Also were you the dog walker? There is a good chance that you could remember details about this crime that help our investigation. We’d therefore really like it if you could get in touch.”
The youths are Asian, 16 or 17, 5ft 8in or 5ft 9in and of average build. They were all wearing dark clothing and one of them had a small pouch bag which had a long red and black shoulder strap.
