Muslim Pack Attack in the Telford Way underpass in Luton

Gang target man in underpass robbery

A man was grabbed around the neck as a gang attempted to rob him.

The 32-year-old victim was walking through the underpass in Telford Way when he was approached by a group of four or five Asian men.

One of the group stopped to tie up his shoelace, but as the man walked by another grabbed him around the neck.

The man who was tying his shoelace then approached the man and demanded that he handed over his mobile phone and cash.

The victim was then searched, but as this was taking place a member of the public disturbed the gang who then fled the area.

Detective Constable Surfaz Hussain, who is investigating the incident, is keen to hear from anyone who was in Telford Way at the time of the robbery but he would particularly like to hear from the person – believed to be an Asian male in his early 20s – who entered the underpass and caused the gang to flee.

The first man is described as being Asian, in his mid 20s, of medium build, around five feet five inches tall, with short black hair and wearing a grey top with white jogging bottoms.

Unfortunately the victim did not get a clear look at the second man who grabbed him from behind.

If you have information relating to this incident, contact DC Hussain, in confidence, on 01582 473330, the non-emergency number 101, or text information to 07786 200011.
