James Houliston – white man murdered by Asian gang in Hackney – still unsolved – only got one mention in the local paper

Sorry for the defunct links, but I seriously couldn’t find a functioning article in any mainstream news source. Another white man is murdered by another Muslim gang, and it barely gets the local papers. This one really has gone down the memory hole!

Reward to find killer

DETECTIVES believe eyewitnesses to a murder in Hoxton are sheltering the identity of the killer.

James Houliston, a 44-year-old builder from Regan Way, was left with a fractured skull after he was attacked in June.

His life support machine was turned off at the Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel three weeks later.

Officers believe there are people in Hoxton who know who threw the punch that killed the father-of-two.

The Met Police has now put up a £20,000 reward for information leading to the capture of the killer

Officers also returned to the scene on Tuesday in a bid to jog the memories of residents and park users.

Det Chief Insp Carl Mehta, who leads the investigation, said: “I am renewing my appeal for information in connection with the assault because I strongly believe that there are people who live locally, who saw the incident and know the identity of the assailant.

“I urge them to come forward and speak to us and I am hoping that the offer of this substantial reward will encourage people to do so.”

Mr Houliston, had been walking close to the side entrance of Shoreditch Park at 7.30pm.

He was near the Mintern Street entrance when he became involved in an argument with another park user.

Mr Houliston was punched in the face and fell to the floor, crashing his head on the pavement.

Police want to speak to a dark-skinned Asian or Middle Eastern man in
his late teens with an athletic build and “pointed” sideburns.

He was wearing light tracksuit bottoms with a black stripe down both sides and was possibly holding or wearing a white T-shirt.

It is believed the man may have been with a group of about six Asian and black youths in their late teens, including one white girl with blonde or bleached hair.

Scottish-born Mr Houliston was a construction worker who moved to Hackney 20 years ago.

He had two sons, Kevin, 26, and Michael, 18, and two grandchildren, Jordan and Liam.

  1. Brian houliston says:

Still to this day there hasn’t been not one arrest over the murder of my little brother James. Not even a up to date call from the murder squad in six year.It just goes to show what the difference this would be if this was White killers on the loose. It just makes me sick to the core that these killers still roam the streets, yet the coppers do nothing.
